Recently, Yahoo, pulled back telecommuting and asked all employees to work from office premises. The much seeked and appreciated work from home facility in particular for women is now in utter danger.
Several organizations against their belief in telecommuting were beginning to consider it for reasons of cost saving. The change triggered by Yahoo will motivate these organizations to reconsider their choices.
Now, this will bring up a question for women many who were working from home.
Should women work?
Well, the choice lies entirely in their hands. Leaving aside the situation where women need to work to meet the financial needs, women always had to make a choice. The choice was never and is not between working or not working the choice is between being ones own master or to always do what the others are doing work for someone else.
This opens a huge opportunity for every woman to one consider the choice of becoming a mother and two the option to start their own work. For latter, it is important to get a few basics right. Do you want to convert your passion to business or you want to fill a need gap and make money. Both are fine approaches. The goal needs to be clear, you need to be clear, is it to make money, become famous, or to work for the well being of others.
